Motivating Mom of the Month-December 2022: Rebecca Oliveira

"I always smile when I see Rebecca at class! She has a warm, bright energy that radiates out to everyone around her. She pushes herself to get a good workout. Rebecca is an awesome mom. She's always gently encouraging Rowan to explore the world with a smile on her face." -Laura, Fit4Mom Instructor.

"Talk about die hard fanatic-this is one strong momma. Rebecca gives 100% at each class. I love her dedication to self care, and how she quickly adapted to her new Fit4Mom community. I'm beyond happy that she has joined our village. Rowan is always so good during class, huge credits to Rebecca's patient and calm parenting style. You rock!!" -Shannon, Fit4Mom Franchise Owner

Who are the members of your family and where are you originally from?

I’m from the UK but met my husband, Pedro, when living in NYC. He then joined the air force so we have Iris, 5, a Texan, and Rowan, 2, born in New Mexico. We hope to stay put here for longer!

When was your first Fit4Mom class and what do you remember about it?

I had to leave my first fit4mom class midway through as my son was inconsolable! It turned out to be an ear infection and fortunately I’ve not had to do that again since. That was in 2021 in San Antonio.

Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?

I try and make it to the classes in Burke on Tuesdays, Thursdays and fridays, and also the 360 class in laurel hill park on Wednesdays.

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?

Prior to having my eldest, Iris, I worked as a textile designer in NYC and taught yoga on the side. I now stay home with the kids but still teach yoga a little.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

My kids’ giggles, the beautiful Fall we just had, and traveling, especially back home to see my family.

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

In reality, I’d probably waste half of it trying to decide what to do! But I’d love a massage, a long walk and a great yoga class.

What has being a mom taught you?

Quite how much my mother loved (and still loves) me and my sister. I had no idea.

What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

When my daughter was little she pronounced the ‘st’ sound like a ‘d’, (saying ‘dop’, instead of ‘stop‘ etc). We went for a hike with my husband’s colleague who got a small branch tangled in his hair. He was quite shocked when my daughter pointed to him saying ‘stick head’.

Any words of wisdom for other moms?

I’m not a huge fan of mom advice. Though I have often recommended friends join their local fit4mom groups!

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM? What would you tell someone thinking about joining?

I love both that I get to workout and meet other moms. Having moved around so much it’s been a great way to make friends and have some adult conversations.
