Motivating Mom of the Month-January 2024: Patrice Buck

"Patrice is such a super mom! I absolutely love seeing her name on the roster, I know I'll have her smiling face and she always gives 110%. She's such a great example of showing up for yourself!!" -Kara, Fit4Mom Instructor

"I always look forward to seeing Patrice at Stroller Strides class! She is so attentive to her sweet boy Isiah, and brings fierce energy to her workout at the same time. She is one of the most supportive & caring Mamas in our village" -Jessica, Fit4Mom Instructor

Who are the members of your family and where are you originally from? Husband James, son Isiah and our dog Rubia. Born and raised in NOVA - come and gone but back again!

When was your first Fit4Mom class and what do you remember about it? First class was last March and I remember the feeling of community and understanding! I remember being relieved to have a place to go where I could get a good workout in and also make friends (for me and Isiah!).

Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?

I love a good Stoller Strides class at the mall on Thurs, Friday and Saturday and the 360 on Wednesday. I loved the morning Body Boost class online as well but sleep has been winning the last few months. But my goal is to be back!

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?

I was an elementary school teacher for 8 years where I taught mostly 3rd grade and ended at 4th grade. Now I work from home part time as a Human Resources Assistant.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

Traveling, hiking or walks outside and trying new restaurants.

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

Go on a date with my husband.

What has being a mom taught you?

I am so much stronger and more capable of so much more than I ever thought.

What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

I was finally feeling brave enough to go to the grocery store alone with my son for the first time. I get all the food in my cart and ready to get inline to check out and I have to go to the bathroom! In a panic I take my cart with Isiah and go in the bathroom not thinking that the cart won’t fit in the stall with me (the family bathroom was closed). So there I am on the toilet, door wide open with the shopping cart sticking out and Isiah waving to the ladies coming and going.

Any words of wisdom for other moms?

Show yourself grace and love everyday!

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM? What would you tell someone thinking about joining?

I love that I can get a good workout in, be social, make friends and have a community of support all in one place. The saying of “It takes a village” is so true and Fit4Mom embraces that and more. It’s a group that helps to remind you that you’re worth it, you’re strong and you’re not alone.
