"Sally just recently joined our community and has been absolutely kicking butt ever since showing up to class with her beautiful daughter and prioritizing her self care! It’s been so wonderful to see how quickly they’ve become a part of our village. Keep up the amazing work Sally!! You rock!!”-Jamie, Fit4Mom Instructor
"Sally is the perfect Stroller Strides Mama - you can hear her voice cascading down the halls of Springfield Town Center while strolling and sweating with her little ones in tow. She gives no less than 100% at each class. Her kids are always ready and smiling, just like their mama. Sally only joined a few short months ago - it’s been such a pleasure seeing her catch the love of FIT4MOM so quickly. She has known every single song that I have whipped out, that is extraordinary. And very unusual! She inspires me every day. Sally even logged on to our virtual classes on VACATION! Way to keep that self-care strong." -Shannon, Fit4Mom Franchise Owner
Who are the members of your family and where are you originally from?
Husband Wallace, Wells (3), Perry (15m). We are originally from Atlanta, Ga
When was your first Fit4Mom class and what do you remember about it?
My first class was a class at Kingstowne Library. I remember expecting it to be mostly interacting with other moms and babies and was surprised by what a great workout it was and how sore I was after that class.
Where can we find you? What is your Fit4Mom routine these days?
Mondays and Fridays at Springfield Mall and Thursday at Franconia Park regularly and then as many other classes as I can sneak in, especially on holidays.
What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home (if you don’t currently work outside the home)?
I’m the Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministries at St. John’s in McLean.
What are 3 of your favorite things?
I love sewing, a fun drink with a good book, and swimming or other outdoor activities with my kids.
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
Date night with my husband that’s not only dinner out but also a fun activity like a paint night, ax throwing, or whatever the new cool thing is that I’m not even aware of because we tend to default to kid-friendly activities.
What has being a mom taught you?
So much! But most notably that there is no way to know everything or get it all right. Grace for myself and my family has been the theme of our lives lately and has really helped me set realistic expectations as a family.
What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?
My son has learned a lot about the solar system and has decided our car is a spaceship and travels to different planets in the solar system depending on where we are going. Our house is the moon, school is earth, church is the sun, etc. His favorite planet is Uranus because a magic school bus character gets frozen on Uranus. This means that all the miscellaneous locations we go get labeled Uranus…and you can probably see where this is going. At least once a week lately we walk into somewhere with my 3yr old declaring “this is Uranus” or “it’s really cold on Uranus”. And he thinks it’s funny but not for the same reason that adults do, so I try to laugh with him without turning red from embarrassment.
Any words of wisdom for other moms?
Being a perfect mom is unrealistic and overrated. Live into the parts of you that your kids need in any moment and try not to get caught up in how other parents are parenting. Your kids love you and need you to be your authentic self!
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM? What would you tell someone thinking about joining?
The workouts are great but the welcoming sense of community is even better. I have found a group of local moms who are embracing themselves and each other in this crazy journey that is motherhood and I couldn’t be more thankful.
